Childbirth Education
I am an accrediated NACE (National Australian Childbirth Education) Childbirth Educator. I work with individual women, couples and small groups. This work identifies each woman's fears and concerns and incorporates how she can aim to get her needs met navigating our complex hospital system. As I have worked as a doula for over 6 years I have comprehensive knowledge on many city and regional hospitals and the type of birth experience that each place may provide.
Types of issues covered –
Keeping yourself well during pregnancy, birth preparation and stages of labour, the role that hormones play in the birth process, birth support and what that entails, the benefits of a gentle birth to mother, baby and whole family unit, hypno-birthing and its benefits, birth as a rite of passage, sexuality and birth, finding your network in your community and referrals to various holistic practitioners that may support you further.
Also within these sessions we can incorporate a de-brief of past birth experiences and how they may affect future pregnancies and births.
Session time is usually 2 hours.
Cost is $80 per session (as many sessions as you decide)
Hypno-Childbirth
I am a certified hypno-doula. I can use techniques for birth hypnosis with my clients and I also work with women independently throughout their pregnancy helping them achieve self-hypnosis for their birth without me being present. We work with both scripts that I read, along with cds for women to take and practice throughout the pregnancy. It is ideal to begin this skill early in pregnancy but there is no limit to how late we can start this work. Primarily these techniques work on a subconscious level allowing your body to birth at its optimal level without fear compromising the process.
Cost $60 per session (usually 6 sessions if used as a stand alone therapy)
Reiki
Reiki is a simple and powerful energy exchange that can produce amazing results for those who receive it. It can be an incredible healing medium or a vehicle to give your body immense relaxation. My hands are placed on 27 different body positions and the patient's body receives the reiki energy that they need at that time. Patients remain fully clothed throughout the treatment. Session time is between 1 to 1.5 hours
Cost is $70 per session
Reflexology
Reflexology is a holistic complementary therapy. Its purpose is to treat the whole person, rather than a symptom. As well as restoring balance, it is also a soothing way to enhance the body's own healing abilities. It is a gentle technique that can be used throughout pregnancy, birth and also to help children overcome common childhood ailments. It is also particularly useful for sinus congestion, pre menstrual tension, headaches and a great tool to relax tired and stressed bodies.
Cost $60 per session
Ear Candling
Ear candling is primarily a relaxation technique however when combined with facial massage recipients find relief from earache and blocked sinuses. It is an ancient healing therapy from many of the oldest cultures that has been rediscovered in recent times. It can be used for pregnant women and children also. It cannot be used if children have grommets in their ears.
Cost is $60 for 1-hour session including head and facial massage
